Privacy Policy Statement

The Consumer Information Centre is committed to ensuring the best standards of practice in all its activities. At The Consumer Information Centre we take care to respect your privacy when you respond to our direct mail or online activities (Consumer Information Centre Activities).


Respondents to The Consumer Information Centre Activities can be assured that the protection of privacy and confidentiality are given the highest priority. All personal information is collected, held and used in strict compliance with the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 and we are bound by the National Privacy Principles.

Horizon Media is also a member of the Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) and we comply with their codes in everything we do. This means that we handle your personal details responsibly and that we act fairly and honestly in all our customer transactions. As a member of ADMA, we take your privacy seriously. We pledge that any information you give us will be used to create a more user friendly and personalised service for you. In accordance with the code of practice and the Nation Privacy

• Provide you with an opportunity to opt out of receiving further offers

We only collect personal information by lawful and fair means and this means that we are never unreasonably intrusive when it comes to dealing with our customers.

 

Information Collected

The Consumer Information Centre does not collect any personal information from its activities other than information that is knowingly and voluntarily given. Anonymous information is collected, such as the number of visitors to the website in a given period, but it is purely statistical and cannot be used to identify an individual user. Cookies may be used to collect any other information from visitors to the website.

Respondents interested in the Consumer Information Centre Activities can provide contact details via an application this includes our competitions. Respondents cannot be contacted unless such information is given. Respondents are also invited to give additional information but a decision not to do so does not affect any subsequent negotiations or discussions.

Use of Information

The information collected will be used to contact you with further details to Consumer Information Centre Activities and associated third parties services or to send details of future offers or information. It may also be used for research purposes.

You can inform us at www.ConsumerInfo.com.au at any time if you no longer require such information to be sent.

Third Party Disclosure

From time to time the Consumer Information Centre may pass your details to other carefully selected and privacy compliant organisations.

Data Security

The Consumer Information Centre takes appropriate measures to safeguard the information it holds from unauthorised access or improper use. The Consumer Information Centre has a strict internal security policy with which members of staff must comply as a condition of employment and no external access to the system is permitted. The Consumer Information Centre continually reviews and updates its security procedures as new technologies become available and new activities are introduced.

Any third parties to whom information is transferred are made aware of these security practices and are also required to take reasonable precautions to protect the transferred information.

Integrity of Data

The Consumer Information Centre takes all reasonable measures to ensure that the information it holds is accurate. In particular it uses reliable collection methods and destroys or converts to an anonymous form any out-of-date data. Individuals may request details of all personal information held by the Consumer Information Centre so as to contest inaccurate or incomplete data verify the information and have it corrected as appropriate.

Code of Practices

The Consumer Information Centre and carefully screened partners may from time to time mail you through the post with information and offers that may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive these mailings simply write to privacy@consumerinfo.com.au requesting that we do not use your details for this purpose.

Children

The www.ConsumerInfo.com.au website and Consumer Information Centre’s direct mail activities are not targeted at children but in any event personal information will not be collected from children under sixteen years without parental consent.
